Where does the case management hearing fit in to the pre-trial procedure for summary offences?

There's something I seem to be missing here.

I understand that the pre-trial procedure for either-way offences is Early Administrative Hearings, plea before venue, mode of trial and either sentencing or trial, but where exactly does the Case Management Hearing fit in here? When does it occur and what does it do?Where does the case management hearing fit in to the pre-trial procedure for summary offences?
Case management hearings are just placeholders for the case. Basically, if it is going to be awhile until the next hearing, the court will set a date for case management where the parties discuss the status of the case...
