Simply give up and just be a AAAA team like Oakland.
They need to rebuild a team. They will be good again in time. Theo Epstein will build a good team for them it will take some time though they had made too many bad signings.What do the cubs need to be a serious condtender?!?
First off they need players that will get them to the playoffs. It's like the Twins, except last year, they've always been a contender, but it just seems the Spankees always kick them out. After they get a few players they wait a few years and get some more money, save up and cut minor spending. Then it's like the Marlins, they had enough money to get all this talent. So once you have a few good players you go and get one, maybe two, major players, somewhat like the Tigers have done with Prince Fielder and Miguel Cabrera. After that you just wait for your time.

get relocated to an independent league of high school players. with 4 teams in the league they'll finish 5th
The Cubs just polished up a brand new management board, the only thing they are lacking is some good prospects and should reload during next year's draft.



The Cubs made some pretty pointless signings and trades, like the Matt Garza trade, shipping off half of their good prospects to Tampa Bay.
